The president of Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea (Aena), Juan Ignacio Lema, invited this Tuesday the controllers' union Usca to "lift the threat of calling a strike in the coming weeks and opt for the negotiating path" to close the agreement. The group decides this afternoon whether or not to strike.
Lema, who urged the Executive Committee of Usca "to make the decision to end this situation of uncertainty", appealed to "take into account the clamor of the tourism sector to put an end to a threat that is so damaging to the economy and employment of our country."
"Aena reiterates its offer to resort to voluntary and independent arbitration to resolve existing discrepancies on working hours and remuneration," insists the president of the Public Entity, recalling once again the proposal that was put on the negotiating table last Friday to resort to voluntary and independent arbitration to resolve existing discrepancies on working hours and remuneration.
However, Lema said, "we remain open to closing an agreement with the controllers at the negotiating table." For the president of Aena, the main thing is to restore the situation of normality, "so necessary for a sector that is vital for the Spanish economy and on which so many jobs depend."
