Between 450 and 500 people demonstrated this Tuesday in Lanzarote against the cuts in Education. Although in this type of events there is usually a "war of figures", on this occasion both the Government Delegation and the unions agree on this participation data.

The general secretary of Education of CCOO in the Canary Islands, José Ramón Barroso, has indicated that the demonstration passed "without any type of incidents." "We are very happy that families participated, parents and students, because they are also going to notice these cuts. The new measures will affect their future, the training of young people. And this is aggravated in Lanzarote as it is a peripheral island", he indicated.

The march started from the Cabildo of Lanzarote and arrived to the island direction of Education. In the rest of the country different demonstrations against the educational cuts also took place. According to the Government Delegation, around 5,000 people participated throughout the Canary Islands in these demonstrations, which took place "with normality and without incidents".

The day of strike, however, did not have much follow-up in Lanzarote, according to the data of the Government Delegation, that calculates that only 13.3 percent of the non-university teaching staff supported this strike.
