The mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga, stated this Wednesday that the lawsuit filed by the former northern mayor Juan Ramírez "is false" and assured that he will go to court and file a complaint against this former politician, who is currently serving a prison sentence. According to Torres Stinga on Radio Lanzarote, it is "a complaint filed by a prisoner from the Tahíche prison, whom the Criminal Court Number 1 classifies as a dangerous criminal."
This same Tuesday, the mayor of Haría was supposed to have gone to testify at the Investigating Court Number 1 of Arrecife, but the summons was finally suspended. And according to Torres Stinga, Juan Ramírez's lawsuit "is poorly presented" and "defects" have been found, so the Court has "forced" him to make "some corrections". "It seems that during the period in which he studied law, when they explained this part, he did not attend," the mayor of Haría joked.
In addition, the defense of the mayor of Haría has demanded a bond from Juan Ramírez so that he can respond civilly in case the lawsuit does not prosper. "The money that can be raised with this bond will be for Cáritas of Haría and for the Social Services of the City Council," he said. In this sense, he criticized that Juan Ramírez believed that this lawsuit "was going to be free."
Regarding the statement, the mayor has assured that when he has to testify, he "will be delighted." "I will be able to provide the documentation before his honor," he indicated.
After this process, Torres Stinga has announced that he will go to court and file a lawsuit against Juan Ramírez for "false accusation."
The facts of the complaint
In his complaint, Ramírez accuses Torres Stinga of several alleged crimes related to the exchange of some plots in the municipality. The events date back to 1999. At that time, according to the mayor, the Haría City Council "managed to incorporate an amount into the Canary Islands budgets to build the Haría residence." "At that time, the City Council had neither economic possibilities nor public land, and then the technicians together with the Cabildo decided to locate the residence where it was finally built," he indicated.
For this, it was proceeded to carry out "an exchange in an area that in 1972 its owner had declared a green area." "Curiously, it was Juan Ramírez who had proceeded to the reclassification of this space. In addition, the back of the house, the property of that plot, appears to be Juan Ramírez's," Torres Stinga assured.
The current mayor of Haría has defended that this process was done in an "immaculate" way, so he has insisted that this complaint "is false." "The file is immaculate from A to Z. When the procedure is finished, I am going to make it public so that people are aware of the barbarities that this criminal says. I suppose he will be very comfortable in the Tahíche prison because with this he will want to increase his stay," he indicated.
