A total of 98 flights arriving to or departing from the Canary Islands are currently affected due to the work-to-rule strike by air traffic controllers, following the conflict they have with Spanish Airports and Air Navigation (Aena), which intends to reduce their salary by 25 percent.

The most affected airport is Tenerife South, with 39 flights, 27 departing and 12 arriving, where delays are in the range of half an hour to 70 minutes. Aena's press service indicates that throughout the day this figure may increase to 47 affected flights.

In Los Rodeos, 26 flights are affected by delays, which last between 30 and 90 minutes, of which 10 are arriving and 16 are departing. Most of the routes connect the northern Tenerife airport with other national destinations.

In La Palma, until 4:30 p.m., there had been a delay in the arrival of a plane from Madrid, while two charter flights from the company Cóndor are waiting to take the runway.

At Gran Canaria airport, Aena reports that seven departures have been delayed, mostly to community destinations, to Barcelona and Madrid, while traffic on routes between islands has not been affected. Delays range from half an hour to 120 minutes.

In Lanzarote, 18 departures have been delayed with an average delay close to 90 minutes, although the flight to London has suffered a delay of two and a half hours. Aena expects that from 6:30 p.m. normality will be restored at the Lanzarote airport.

According to Aena, Fuerteventura airport has recorded five delays with routes to Madrid and Germany. The average waiting time for passengers is around 100 minutes.
