A father has reported that the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, put on a rally exhibition inside the school playground. According to the writing of Julio César Merino, the vehicle of the first mayor left tire marks on the ground and has damaged the sports courts. "Jesús Machín, happy to please and emulate the educational community, has no other idea than to give an exhibition with his striking and colorful rally car, generating some kind of strange learning that he wants to instill in the children. I suppose that now the students will develop some special kind of intelligence, or superpowers, I don't know," this father has said.
According to what the school's management has told Julio César Merino, this motor exhibition was approved by the Faculty Board. In this way, the parents found out through their own children that "the mayor, dressed as an astronaut, on the back of his fantastic rally vehicle, makes his masterful exhibition before a potential fan of the ¿sport? of motor in the middle of the playground".
Merino has assured that parents try to teach "basic concepts about road safety" to their children, about how to use pedestrian crossings or the meaning of traffic lights. "What do we explain now to our children who have seen such a respectable and respected figure as the mayor of our municipality doing "donuts" with a colorful car, full of numbers and letters all over the bodywork?", he has asked.
This exhibition by Jesús Machín has been described by Merino as "an act of vandalism, imitating a vulgar street criminal with a stolen car". In this sense, he has assured that Machín's "rally" has deteriorated the surface of the sports court and, in addition, he has insisted that his exhibition was later moved "to the public road".
"A foolish act"
Therefore, this father has asked again: "What do we explain to them, after having seen that such a foolish act is accepted willingly by another figure even more respected by the students as is the school's management?". He has also questioned the measures that were taken by the school so that the children "were not exposed to the excessive level of noise generated by the engine".
Merino has also expressed concern about the safety of the children during the exhibition and has asked about what safety measures the school had adopted "in the event of a possible loss of control of the vehicle with the risk of crashing into the innocent crowd that was watching in amazement". "And if a stone of those same ones that burst our windshield when we cross with another vehicle on the road, goes shot towards a little head? Does anyone assume any responsibility?", he has questioned.
In his writing, he has assured that the school's principal has explained that safety was the responsibility of the mayor of Tinajo. "Well, that's not the case, Mrs. Principal. Safety inside schools is the total responsibility of the management. Please do not evade responsibilities," he has demanded.
"A mayor, and much less Don Jesús Machín, does not have adequate training in safety and risk prevention. The Spanish Automobile Federation contemplates certain safety measures only for competition, but never to do such foolish acts in the playground of a school or on public roads," he has criticized.
