The 18-year-old Yanira López Martín was chosen Miss Yaiza 2014 at the gala held this Saturday before an expectant audience that filled the esplanade of the port of Playa Blanca. The jury also designated Natalia Meza as Miss Fiestas del Carmen, Celina Schulze, Miss Tourist Zone, and Patricia Ferreira as Miss Summer.
The show prepared by the Area of Social Dynamization of the Yaiza City Council had rhythm thanks to the good work and the model passes of the eight aspirants, the choreography directed by Ruimán Medina, who also enriched the gala with the performance of his Dance Pop ballet, the invited soloists and two groups of residents of the municipality with a leading role on stage dancing and wearing clothes from commercial houses in the south of Lanzarote.
The jury, made up of businesswoman Russel Martín-Gaitero, journalist expert in beauty contests, César Sánchez, professional makeup artist, Omar Wade, Princess Ico Teguise 2014, Esther Hernández, and Mr. Teguise 2014, Benjamín Joel Rocío, also recognized the attributes of the ladies Jennifer de Miguel (Miss Summer), Nereida Basallote (Fiestas del Carmen), Angie Daniela Lucio (Tourist Zone) and Jessica Cervantes (Miss Yaiza). The brand new Miss Yaiza 2014, Yanira López, also won the Miss Elegance band. All the beauties received the deserved applause and expressions of affection from the public, of exceptional behavior.
The organization invited the photographers from the media to choose Miss Photogenia, a title that went to Celine Schulze. Before the gala, the participants decided that their partner Angie Daniela Lucio was deserving of Miss Congeniality.
The evening presented by Guayo Rodríguez began with a lively choreography of the eight misses who, although it did not score for the verdict of the contest, served for the public to meet the aspirants in all their splendor and the jury had a first approach with them. At the end of this number, the queens introduced themselves to the audience with a few words of welcome.
While the misses were preparing for the first official pass, a group of young people from the municipality of Yaiza performed under the choreographic direction of Luis Martín. The boys were accompanied by some of the misses and mister 2013 who said goodbye to their reign this summer.
Nerves increased with the arrival of the moment of truth: first scoring pass and in bikini. The girls came out one by one with personality, illuminating the stage with their figure highlighted in a strong blue bikini.
After the ovation of the attendance, came a moment of respite for the candidates. The very young singer María Romero delighted the spectators by performing 'Ninety Minutes' and 'Overcoming Love'. Romero has performed on Andalusian television and has just won the karaoke contest of the Fiestas del Carmen.
Playa Blanca granted a new space for the enjoyment of the people of the town. The natural models paraded on stage with garments from Blanc Dunil and hairstyles from Peluquería Evolution. The gala was full of surprises and before the misses made their final pass it was the turn of Yshela González, another of the great voices of Yaiza. Yshela, accompanied by a dance group, sang three songs earning the applause of the audience.
Evoking the resplendent sun of Playa Blanca and the spectacularity of the southern sea, the aspirants to Miss Yaiza came out with a soft blue evening dress for their final pass. The girls, with an impressive elegance, not only exalted their beauty, but also demonstrated the result of many hours of rehearsal and preparation, an effort that the public valued in its fair measure, as did the jury, and of course, the organization.
The members of the jury retired to deliberate and then reveal their decision, ultimately unanimous. Meanwhile, the youth ballet Dance Pop, composed of twenty-two dancers, exhibited all the potential of its choreography and creativity both in the dance and in the costumes.
The die was cast and the public knew the verdict of the jury. The first deputy mayor of Yaiza, José Antonio Rodríguez, and the councilors of the government group Manuela Martín, Javier Camacho and Roque Herrera presided over the ceremony of imposition of bands and crowns together with the misses and mister winners of last year. The misses 2014 also received gifts donated by the firms that supported the event.
