Writing.

These two young talents will take the stage at the Teatro de San Bartolomé to offer a live performance in which they will perform a repertoire that includes a piece by Turina ("El Poema de una Sanluqueña, Op. 28"), another by Mozart ("Sonata nº 4, K 304") and one by Franck ("Sonata in A major").

All three are pieces for violin and piano, which are the instruments played by Eva León and Daniel Epstein respectively, two performers who are among the best of their generation, as has been stated on numerous occasions by national and international critics. Their performance will take place on Thursday, January 19 at 9:00 p.m.

One of the most important violin performers

Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Eva León is one of the most important Spanish violin performers of today. She has won first prizes in the most important national and international violin competitions, such as the Michaelangelo Abbado International Violin Competition, where she was awarded the Paolo Borciani Prize, and the María Canals International Violin Competition. She has recently been awarded by the organization Artists International Presentations, which will allow her to debut at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York in 2006.

With great success and the enthusiastic support of the public and critics, Eva León has given concerts throughout Europe and the United States, including the National Auditorium and the Palau de la Música in Barcelona.

León has also performed as a soloist with numerous orchestral formations such as the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Moldova, the Galesburg, Clear Lake and Castilla León Symphony Orchestras; the Chamber Orchestra of the University of New York, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vallès Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestras of l'Empordà, Szczecin and Cologne.

One of the most vital solo and chamber pianists

For his part, pianist Daniel Epstein came to international attention in 1973 with his performance of the first piece of Chinese classical music in the United States.

Since then he is recognized as one of the most vital and versatile solo and chamber pianists on the international scene. Winner of the Kosciusczko Chopin, National Arts Club, Alex de Vries of Paris and Concert Artists Guild awards, which was followed by his debut at Carnegie Hall.

Daniel Epstein has frequently appeared as guest soloist with eminent American orchestras such as those of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Detroit and Rochester. As a pianist and founding member of the famous Trio Raphael, he has performed regularly at Carnegie Hall and Town Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, Wigmore Hall in London and in cities such as Vienna, Paris, Geneva, Budapest, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.

Since 2001, Daniel Epstein was invited to join the eminent Manhattan School of Music in New York.
