When it seemed that Carnival had ended in Lanzarote, the percussions of Villa Pipol resonated again on Thursday night. The reason: to honor the carnival spirit of those people who, anonymously and individually, participate in the Carnival and contribute to the continuation of the party.

This time, it was Juan Medina's turn, or rather, "Charlot", as he is known throughout the island. "It all started as a joke," explained Juan, "one day I dressed up and little by little people started saying 'look at the Charlot of Tenerife, or the Charlot of Las Palmas, we're going to have Charlot for a while".

"We wanted to reward the carnival spirit," said José, the president of Villa Pipol. "Many people do a tremendous job not only during the days of Carnival, but also the rest of the year, and represent that illusion." Anonymous people who until now had not had an express recognition.

"When José told me the idea I was very happy," explained Encarna Páez, Councilor for Festivities, "because it was time to pay tribute to people who have been around for so long. But it is important that this does not stay in this night, but that the most representative people of the festivities continue to be honored".

Juan Medina could not contain his emotion when he was presented with his trophy and the Villa People batucada expressed their gratitude. "Only as we know how to do," as one of the members shouted: "Playing." Despite being a silent film character, the fresh air of the night was filled with drums and tambourines, while Juan represented his "Charlot" to the sound of percussion.

The "Charlot de Lanzarote" expressed his desire to continue living the Carnival: "This year I have gone to Haría, San Bartolomé, Tinajo, Playa Blanca... I have been to all the carnivals, wherever they call me from, I go there, I never say no".
