The Tías City Council expresses its condolences for the death of Paula Paxian, a German painter residing in the municipality and distinguished last year as "Woman with a mark" along with other prominent women of the municipal area. In March 2022, on the occasion of the celebration of Women's Day, a plaque with her name was temporarily placed on Conil Street, where she resided.

Paula Paxian, who lived in Lanzarote since 1983, dedicated a large part of her time to painting. In fact, she had more than 15,000 portraits created with vivid colors. Paxian was born in 1955 in Heidelberg, Germany. In 1981 she finished her graphic design studies and moved to France, where she lived for a while before settling in Lanzarote.

One of her outstanding exhibitions, "Souls", located in the Ermita San Antonio Art Room, consisted of a collection of 40 watercolors created between 2014 and 2015. According to the artist at the time, they represent "the innocence of the unconscious."
