La Mareta Square in La Villa de Teguise hosted the First Pelotamano Conference, organized by the La Molina de La Villa Youth Association, committed to promoting this ancestral game again. The event had the collaboration of Juan Manuel Auta, who explained after an exhibition the present and future of pelotamano on the island.

Colleagues from Citizen Participation of Teguise and the young people of the La Molina de La Villa Youth Association were present witnesses of the first initiative of the newly created association, whose declaration of intentions is "to continue working on our own", as stated by its president, Juan Antonio Hernández.

The Councilor for Culture and Youth of Teguise, Olivia Duque, congratulated the young people "for the important dynamization they are undertaking, wishing that this illusion will spread to many other young people in the municipality".

The City Council recalls that just a month ago it fulfilled "a historical demand" of its young people, providing the sector with a meeting point. "The Youth Space of La Villa has been opened for the development of projects and new future challenges for the youth population", said the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, on the day of its opening.
