The Insular Theater of Arrecife definitively opens its doors, a year and a half after being inaugurated

The Councilor for Education and Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Rubén Placeres, has announced the upcoming opening of the Teatro Insular de Arrecife, after its inauguration and subsequent closure approximately a year and a half ago. The councilor explains that this long closure since the inauguration has been due to the prolongation of the construction works of the building, whose completion was scheduled for last August, although it finally had to be postponed until this month.

"Although the theater was officially inaugurated by the previous government group, it was a rather bizarre act as the building was not completely finished", declared Rubén Placeres, who assured that there will be no more setbacks and the theater will offer a quarterly program that they are already working on in the department.

Regarding the delay of the works, the councilor points to the installation of acoustic panels that cover the interior of the building, which were to be installed in August, although due to setbacks in the works, the construction company committed to placing them in a maximum period of three months. "Although it is not an inauguration, it will be the first time that the theater opens its doors to the public, once its construction is finished".

The show chosen for this definitive opening of the theater will be the III Gospel Circuit of the Canary Islands, the Soweto Gospel Choir, selected to begin the activity on December 6, in two sessions that will take place at 6:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.. The festival will then move to Teguise next Thursday, December 11 with a gospel recital, in this case by the group Ane Peters Gospel.

These concerts are sponsored by the Education and Culture area of the Cabildo and the town councils of Arrecife and Teguise. Tickets, which will cost 15 euros, are on sale at the CIC El Almacén, at the Music Kiosk (Parque Ramírez Cerdá de Arrecife) and in the Culture Department of Arrecife.
