Various representatives of the state institutions in Lanzarote met this Thursday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the aim of coordinating security measures around the visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain.

Members of the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands are preparing in the capital of Gran Canaria, together with senior commanders of the State Security Forces and Corps, said security plan that will ensure the integrity of the Royal Family, and avoid any type of unforeseen event by air, land or sea.

Sunday afternoon

Although sources from the Insular Directorate of the State Administration have preferred not to confirm the information, everything points to the Royal Family landing on the Island next Sunday, November 20, with their arrival scheduled for the afternoon at Guacimeta Airport.

King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofía will visit Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife from November 20 to 22, according to data published by the Efe agency.

During their stay in Lanzarote, where they will reside in the Casa de La Mareta in Costa Teguise, the official reception for the King and Queen will take place on Monday, starting at 11:30 a.m., at the San José Castle, where security measures have been significantly reinforced. In Gran Canaria, the King and Queen will preside over the presentation of the gold medals of Fine Arts at the Alfredo Kraus auditorium.

After their visit to Gran Canaria, on the 22nd in Tenerife, King Juan Carlos I will attend, accompanied by Queen Sofía, a concert by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra that will be held in the Tenerife Auditorium on the same day that the King celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of his arrival on the throne.

Sources from the Government Delegation in the Canary Islands did not specify the reason for the King and Queen's visit to Lanzarote, pending the official program.

Although certain authorities in Lanzarote have announced that King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía will attend a family celebration on the Island of Volcanoes, the truth is that the baptism of the son of Alexia de Gracia and Carlos Morales will not take place until next Saturday, November 26.
