The events of the San Bartolomé festivities this Sunday began with a heartfelt recognition. The honoree was Emilio Elvira, whom the wrestling world recognized for his many years of dedication to this sport. It was in the Feluco Paz wrestling arena of San Bartolomé, where there was also a fight afterwards.
With this act, which the City Council has described as "simple and emotional", they wanted to "highlight people who have made wrestling great in the municipality". Thus, wrestling paid tribute to him with the presence of the municipal corporation, directors of San Bartolomé, wrestlers and members of the Federation, as well as fans and neighbors.
The mayor, María Dolores Corujo, dedicated words of praise to him. "This is a tribute to a personal career, that of Emilio Elvira, at the head of the Board of Directors of San Bartolomé C.L. and as honorary president of the club, because wrestling is enhanced by passion, it is not only maintained with the wrestlers, commanders, coaches, who are the visible face, but with committed people with great dedication. Taking decisions but without moving away from the general tribute that encloses all the people who keep the flame of Canarian wrestling clean and live it from any of its aspects is what this heartfelt recognition contains".
There were many words of thanks that Elvira received during the act, for all the years of dedication to the San Bartolomé Wrestling Club, which organized the event.
