The Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, through MIAC-Castillo de San José and in collaboration with the town councils of Arrecife, San Bartolomé, Teguise, Tías and Yaiza, inaugurate the exhibition of the sixth edition of the project "21st Century: A New Ethic", in the Casa Ajei, following the closing on October 15 of this exhibition in the Benito Pérez Armas Hall of Yaiza.

The call that proposed to Canary Island creators and residents in the islands a reflection on consumption in contemporary society, under the title Art as garbage, garbage as art, was visited by more than 200 people during its stay in the municipality of Yaiza.

This project "21st Century: A New Ethic", which began in 2005, aims to investigate not only the idea of recovery and reduction of consumption, but also the creative possibilities that garbage offers us. To take garbage as an element of study to think about and perceive reality, the life of things.

The members of the jury, designated for the selection of works and the awarding of the three prizes, valued the capacity to transmit the proposed idea, as well as its technical and aesthetic resolution. Regarding the result of the winning works, they have been: "The Shadow of David" by Dorotea Prehn, which won first prize; in second place "De tapas", by Moisés Gutiérrez, and a third prize for Guardians of Nature". The three will be exhibited together with the fourteen finalist works, by the following creators: Mariola Acosta, Adolfo Areizaga, Fernando Barbarin, Guadalupe Carracedo, Jesús Francisco Carreño, Miguel Ángel Denaro, Alfredo G. Escribano, Fabiola Godoy, Silvia Marina Mangia, José Carlos Martín, Ruth Mifumu, Javier Pérez, Karin Prehn and Julio Roig.
