The Local Police and the Civil Guard have prepared a joint device to monitor compliance with Covid measures in La Graciosa during Holy Week.

This police device will start this Wednesday and will extend until Sunday, in order to prevent illegal parties and other breaches from occurring on the eighth island, as detailed on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero by the Councilor for Local Police of Teguise, Miguel Ángel Jiménez.

And, it should be remembered that to travel between Lanzarote and La Graciosa it is not necessary to present a negative Covid test as it is required for travel between the rest of the islands. Thus, it is expected that these days there will be displacements from Lanzarote to the eighth island.

"What we are clear about is that this is not a question of putting 40,000 or 50,000 local police officers, but of social awareness", Jiménez pointed out despite the fact that surveillance is going to be reinforced, calling for compliance with the measures. "This depends on all of us," he added.

About fifteen complaints in the municipality last weekend

On the other hand, the mayor has revealed that the Local Police imposed "about 15 complaints" last weekend for non-compliance with Covid measures in the municipality, in a surveillance device that focused on Caleta de Famara and Costa Teguise.

"We have not stopped continuously monitoring the Covid issue," Jiménez pointed out.
