With the 38th anniversary of the sinking of the Telamon, which ran aground next to the port of Arrecife on October 31, 1981, just around the corner, the Logistics Support Headquarters of the Las Palmas Arsenal of the Navy has put the extraction and subsequent sale of the remains of the ship up for public auction

According to La Provincia, the tender specifications state that the deadline for the execution of the works will be 365 calendar days from the signing of the contract "except for reasons of force majeure, which must be conveniently assessed and expressly agreed by the Administration".

In addition, it is made clear that once extracted from the bay, the remains of the Telamon are considered "scrap metal", and its transfer "to third parties for purposes other than the sale provided for in this auction" is expressly prohibited.

Similarly, as the value of the material to be extracted cannot be established in advance, it is established that 20% of the value of the scrap metal that is obtained will go to the State, a value that drops to 12.28% from the third auction in the event that the first ones are deserted.
