On Saturday, December 4th and Sunday, December 5th, at 8:00 p.m. at the Teatro Municipal de Tías, the Cultural Musical Association "Máquina Imagina", together with the Experimental Music Classroom of the Municipal School of Music of Tías (AME), will stage the unpublished musical "La Reina Mab" (Queen Mab). Tickets are already on sale at the Department of Culture of Tías, at the Tourist Center of Puerto del Carmen and at Luna Record, in Arrecife, for a price of 10 euros. At the box office, they will cost 12 euros.

At the presentation of this musical, which took place this Tuesday, the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, and the Councilor for Culture, José Antonio Gutiérrez, highlighted the work of both the association and the Experimental Music Classroom to create this show with their own resources and as a way to give an outlet to the creativity of the students.

For her part, the student and one of the performers in this musical, María Dolores Hernández García, emphasized the effort made by the musical Association "Máquina Imagina", which faces not only the organization and production of the show, but also the economic costs of the same, which include technical services, costumes and other needs. Even so, she highlighted the enthusiasm with which it has been put together and her desire for the public to respond and come to see this musical, which is a totally Lanzarote product.

This is the fourth musical written (story, lyrics and music) by the Lanzarote composer Bosco Díaz. His other three musicals have already been premiered in previous years: "The Meaning of Life", in 2006, "The Great Adventure of the Cri Cricket", in 2007 and "Vía Esperanza", in 2008.

A fantastic story

Bosco Díaz emphasizes that this musical work is a fantastic story, but that ironically it begins and ends in the real world. "At the beginning, we are shown the human being very constrained by the rules, the routine, the lack of illusions and imagination, they have forgotten what they are, they no longer dream, although there is always a ray of hope in the form of some dreamer."

Then we go to a parallel world, to ours called Eternia, inhabited by different magical beings (Fairies and Elves), among whom is the Queen of the fairies: Mab, who lives in the Forest of Delights and is responsible, together with her subjects, for bringing stability and motivation to the human being through dreams. Just on the opposite side is the witch Mut, creator of nightmares and obsessed with conquering all of Imaginary Land and thus being able to control man. In the midst of these disputes, we find the plot where the story really focuses: an impossible love between Num, the queen's favorite fairy (princess successor to the throne) and Arion (elf prince).

Other characters also appear, such as King Elf Arsen, an ally of Mab and father of Arion and Myles. The latter will end up betraying the queen and his father out of jealousy towards his brother and out of lust for power, he allies himself with Mut and is an important part of the witch's plans. Other characters with relevance in the story are Ianna, Num's best friend, a cheerful and positive fairy; Seronth, a mysterious and feared hybrid elf, who lives in exile and ends up being what he does not seem; and finally Ogma, an old and very wise fairy who will reveal secrets and show the way to Prince Arion in his great struggle to save his beloved and Eternia.

This is a fantastically close work to reality, as these magical beings show us traits very similar to those of the human personality, and all from an idyllic setting.

This musical written by the composer Bosco Díaz, features the production of "Maquina Imagina", the choreography of Beatrice Senent and Pepa Aranda, the artistic and scenographic direction of Alicia García (Dido y Eneas, Los Miserables, Jesucristo Superstar, El sentido de la vida, La gran aventura del grillo Cri y Vía Esperanza), and the collaboration in the stage direction and interpretation of Jovanka Rivero Hernández.

A song to dreams

This musical is written in three acts with intense, modern and very powerful music where changes of style and their fusions are a constant that will not leave anyone indifferent.

A total of 30 people participate in the realization of this work, including singers, dancers, musicians, artistic and technical team. This musical is a show with all the necessary ingredients to spend a few magical hours in front of the stage.

The story talks about love, about the treasures that are hidden in the deepest feelings of human minds, about the pulse that always exists between good and evil, it approaches desires and the harsh reality, a reality that is disintegrating our species.

"This musical is basically, and never better said: a song to dreams, to life, to that magical and spontaneous part that arises from each person sometime... if you have never dreamed, you have never lived".
