The Halcón Viajes offices registered a collapse due to the cancellation of a promotion of the well-known regional newspaper, Canarias 7. "Ven volando. ¿Qué te cuesta??" gave away round-trip flights to the peninsula with the presentation of twelve coupons from the newspaper, so many people chose to buy several newspapers on the same day, in order to secure their ticket, since it was not necessary to present a coupon for each of the twelve days.
In this way, the available places were sold out in a few days, even before the promotion ended, so there are many affected people who went to the travel agency to complain. Now, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs recommends citizens to "keep the promotion coupons of the advertising campaign".
"We are aware of the disruptions that this situation has generated, but we understand that citizens must remain calm in order to resolve each case in the best possible way", said Higinio Hernández, Minister of Consumer Affairs. Hernández, in addition, has invited "all those who feel that their rights have been violated, to go to the Consumer Office of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, to make the inquiries they deem appropriate".
In addition, the Minister of Consumer Affairs has also assured that "the General Directorate of Consumer Affairs of the Government of the Canary Islands has already opened proceedings to clarify the scope and content of this campaign, and thus estimate the damages that have been caused to citizens".
