This Friday, June 14, the prizes for the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa corresponding to the IV Children's and Primary Education Drawing Contest 'Paint and take care of your island' were awarded. The event took place at the Cicar-Orvecame facilities, located on Avda. Mamerto Cabrera Medina, in the Playa Honda Commercial and Industrial Park.
Climate change has been the theme of this regional competition in 2019. The IV Children's and Primary Education Drawing Contest 'Paint and take care of your island' has been organized by the car concession company Orvecame and the car rental company CICAR, both belonging to the Cabrera Medina business group, and the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association.
The six winners from Lanzarote and the six from La Graciosa attended the event with their parents, and a representative from each educational center. Also, all the winning drawings were displayed on a panel and a student read a text alluding to climate change and the need to raise awareness among the population about this evil that haunts us.
The winners for the island of Lanzarote were the following:
Children: 1st Maeva Lescoures Pérez, Mararía School; 2nd May Fuentes López, Alcalde Rafael Cedrés School.
1st, 2nd and 3rd of Primary: 1st Isabella Libenni, Genia School; 2nd Ethan Fajardo Ortiz, Genia School.
4th, 5th and 6th of Primary: 1st Zoe Tempra, Playa Honda School; 2nd Dayana Andrea Molina Torres, CEIP Playa Blanca School.
In turn, the winners for the island of La Graciosa were the following:
Children: 1st Kenay Hidalgo Quintero, CEO Ignacio Aldecoa School; 2nd Naiara Romero Martín, CEO Ignacio Aldecoa School.
1st, 2nd and 3rd of Primary: 1st Thiago Ramírez Romero, CEO Ignacio Aldecoa School; 2nd Tayri de León Quintero, CEO Ignacio Aldecoa School.
4th, 5th and 6th of Primary: 1st Emilia Baudet Guadalupe, CEO Ignacio Aldecoa School; 2nd Ainara Guadalupe Betancor, CEO Ignacio Aldecoa School.
The winning students (1st and 2nd of each category) received their corresponding "Tablet" and their diploma, while the father/mother of each student who obtained first prize will receive the 'Cicar Gift Voucher'. The rest of the participants (centers, teachers, parents, jury, authorities, etc.) received an accreditation diploma.
Juan Cruz, president of the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association; Mª Nieves Cabrera, from the Cabrera Medina Business Group; Alexis Tejera, elected mayor of San Bartolomé; Carmen Rosa Márquez, Minister of Education Cabildo in office; Mario Pérez, Island Director of Education in office; and the members of the jury were present at the event.
The jury was composed of Juan Cruz Sepúlveda, president of the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association; David García González, director of the CEIP Alcalde Rafael Cedrés; Mari Carmen Marín Oliva, of the CEIP Playa Honda; María del Carmen Delgado Déniz, of the Lanzarote Teacher Center; and Mª Jesús Alonso Morientes, of the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association; acting as secretary Omar Lemes Méndez, of the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association.
About 2,000 students participated in this new edition of the contest 'Paint and take care of your island'. On Monday, the 17th, at 12:00 noon, the awards ceremony will take place on the rest of the islands.
