There are only a few days left until the start of Christmas. The first sign of the proximity of these special dates is marked by advertising. But in Arrecife it can be said that the starting gun for the party is celebrated in a more original way. All thanks to Maxi González, who, like every year since 1999, places a nativity scene in some original place in the capital of Lanzarote.
This year could not be less and on Tuesday night he inaugurated his birth. On this occasion the figures are located on a balcony on Argentina Street. Maxi González has spent three months making, with the collaboration of the neighbors, the birth that is already in sight of everyone.
Thus, he has been in charge of buying new figures after a storm that fell last year ruined the ones he already had, he has placed them meticulously and has also put up hanging lights so that no one is indifferent when passing through this street.
Act
For the inauguration of the nativity scene, Argentina Street was closed. The Councilor for Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, Encarna Páez, approached the place. Although in this case the great protagonists were the elderly.
And it is that Maxi González, after seeing his mother very ill, decided to dedicate himself to the elderly. For this, he did the Christianity courses and after Christmas he will go to hospitals and other centers where the elderly are to help them in everything he can.
But his desire to help these people led him to invite a group of elders to the inauguration of the birth.
Turning on the lights
The evening began with the lighting of the lights. Next, a representation was made of the moment in which the archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that she was going to be a mother.
The performance was by a girl who played the role of Mary and by Maxi González himself who from the balcony, although without showing himself to the public, made the representation of the archangel.
Finally, the Charco San Ginés band was in charge of putting the musical touch on a night in which everyone enjoyed a refreshment and danced to the sound of the music.
