With traditional music and dances, the residents of Mácher said goodbye to the festivities in honor of their patron saint, San Pedro. On Saturday night, in the tent installed in the annexes to the Socio-Cultural Center of Mácher, the Güerma Musical Cultural Group of Puerto del Carmen celebrated the II Folklore Festival, counting on this occasion with the great family of the Parranda La Aldea de San Nicolás, from Gran Canaria.

From 1980, the Parranda La Aldea continues working to rescue all those songs and dances that were carried out in the Taifa and Salón dances, a very responsible field work based on compiling the legacy of the men and women of La Aldea.

For their staging, the approximately forty members, women and men, wore traditional clothing, a recreation of what the elders of La Aldea used to wear in the old days, and their choreographies were based on the ballroom dances carried out in some houses and social halls where the single woman was always accompanied by her mother and the men, complying with the established protocol, invited her to dance.

The attending public enjoyed the songs and dances offered by the Parranda La Aldea de San Nicolás, rewarding each of their performances with applause.

Secondly, the hosts, 45 members, women and men, of the Güerma Musical Cultural Association of Puerto del Carmen, took the stage, distributed between the body of touch and dances, wearing the traditional clothing of Lanzarote, 18th and 19th centuries.

Since 2007, when they made their official presentation, they have participated in festivals, pilgrimages and the Canary Islands and television programs. Beatriz Tejera is responsible for presiding over this great family and Professor Ivanhoe Rodríguez is in charge of directing the musical part, the direction of the dance choreographies is the work of the dance components themselves.

For its II Güerma Festival, it chose the most representative of traditional music and dances such as; folias, isas, seguidillas and malagueñas with an impeccable and very careful staging where players and dancers all together won the applause of the numerous public that packed the capacity of the tent. The night ended with an Isa Parrandera where the members of the two groups and the very animated public joined hands sealing their friendship.
