The Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote has presented at its headquarters in Arrecife three new jet skis that reinforce the material resources of the fire department in the services that must be attended on the coasts of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

The units, fully equipped, also have a rescue SLED and trailer for transport, and have involved an investment of 56,851 euros, in a contract formalized with the company NAUTI BOAC JET S.L.

It should be remembered that in the year 2022, the fire department carried out a total of 1,097 services, of which 187 were rescues of people, "which often require the intervention of firefighters, not only on land but also at sea," says Marcos Bergaz, president of the Consortium.

"Therefore, it is important to have jet skis in the main enclaves of the coast with which to react more quickly to any incident that occurs, such as preventing a person from drowning or preventing damage from material elements such as drifting boats," continues Bergaz.

"Their acquisition is part of the project to renew and expand the fleet that the Consortium is undertaking, such as the purchase of three new fire trucks for more than one million euros, which we hope will be delivered by the awarding company throughout 2023," says Bergaz.

"These investments in security allow us to improve our response capacity in the event of an accident, and it is possible thanks to the contribution of exceptional economic resources by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, our majority partner, to whom we thank for their commitment and involvement," concludes the president of the entity.
