"The simplest is usually the most beautiful." This is what the sculptural work of the Tenerife craftsman Moisés Afonso says, which the Teguise City Council has decided to place at the door of the CEIP of Costa Teguise. A large asymmetrical and semi-transparent heart made of iron, which can hold up to 200 kilos of plastic caps, which will be destined for a good cause.

The Teguise City Council recalls that it was Nerea Afonso, a 7-year-old girl, who asked her father, the Icodense blacksmith Moisés Afonso, to forge a large sculpture to store the caps that serve to help people who are having a bad time in their lives. Together they decided to give it the shape of a large steel heart under the name 'ConcienciaT'. A solidarity work that already has 14 replicas throughout the Canary Islands and that, for the first time, is installed at the entrance of a school with the aim of raising awareness among the little ones.

The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, together with his colleagues from the Government group, accompanied the 3-year-old Infant students and the 2nd and 5th grade students of the educational center, in the inauguration of this work that, according to its author, "will be transformed day by day, since the colors and shapes of the collected caps will fill the interior of the solidarity heart".

"First of all, I would like to congratulate Moisés and the promoter of this beautiful project, his daughter Nerea, because I am convinced that it will encourage everyone, -parents and children-, to join this simple and supportive way of helping our neighbors," said the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, during the symbolic act. "The tons of caps that are collected here daily will be managed through the Social Welfare area to bring a smile back to many families and many children in the municipality," he explained.
