The Cabildo takes to Plenary the appointment of Ico Arrocha as Favorite Son of Lanzarote

The session will be held next Monday and aims to recognize "one of the most important and influential singers of folk and traditional music of the island and the Canary Islands"

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has convened an Extraordinary Plenary Session in which the appointment of Federico Arrocha Hernández, “Ico Arrocha”, as Favorite Son of the Island of Lanzarote will be addressed.

The Plenary Session will be in person and will take place on Monday, May 24, at 9:30 a.m., in the Plenary Hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

Federico Arrocha Hernández (La Tiñosa-Tías, 1953-2016) is considered one of the most important and influential singers of folk and traditional music of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands.

"He was an active member of folk groups such as Guadarfía, Ajey or Los Campesinos, as well as a reference in terms of his interpretive style and an example in his effort to preserve the most significant, authentic and pure values of the traditional sounds of Lanzarote," they highlight from the Corporation.
