The plenary hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote hosted this Wednesday a "humble but emotional" institutional act of recognition to those who were workers of the institution and retired between 2009 and 2013. The president of the Corporation, Pedro San Ginés, accompanied by the councilors Joaquín Caraballo, Marciano Acuña, José Antonio Gutiérrez, Luis Arráez, Ramón Bermúdez and Ángel Vázquez, has presented diplomas to the former employees who have attended the event. The councilor of Alternativa Ciudadana, Mari Paz Cabrera, could not attend due to work reasons.

The president has recognized "the effort, in many cases, of almost a lifetime of dedication to the Cabildo", that is, of "dedication to Lanzarote". "We must not forget that the Cabildo is the home of all who live on this island, since the citizens are the legitimate owners of this centennial institution," he said.

With this recognition, San Ginés has stated that the "silent work" that these employees have provided for many years "with professionalism, effort, commitment, responsibility and dedication" is praised. The president has recognized that due to the "hard daily work", in "many occasions" these employees may not have felt the recognition of their work.

San Ginés has conveyed to these employees the importance of their work and their dedication. "Many of their qualities and values will be impregnated between the walls of this institution and in those who continue with the work that you started, who will undoubtedly know how to adapt them as their own so that everything continues forward, as if they were still here," he said.

The president has assured that these workers are "a reference for the institution". "We have needed you not only for the daily tasks, but also to receive advice or a word of encouragement in different situations in which experience allowed you to provide the best solution and address problems more accurately," San Ginés insisted.

"Arduous work, daily pressure and honesty"

In his speech, the president also pointed out that these employees have had a "arduous, daily pressure" work trajectory, which they have fulfilled with "honesty". "Perhaps they felt the nostalgia of leaving and the feeling of leaving an institution that has given them shelter and to which they gave many years of their lives," he said.

The president did not want to say goodbye to these employees, but rather say "see you later" and has asked them to continue visiting the Cabildo, as they are part of its history. "The Cabildo will continue to have the doors open for everyone and will always be their second home. The place where we value them with respect and affection, and where the memory of those who accompanied them on this vital journey will keep them present in daily conversations, in funny anecdotes that have them as protagonists, and we hope that they also take memories, stories that they will know how to share with their loved ones," San Ginés has confided.
