A simple bottle of water, a jar of baby food, a wine or a cologne. These are seemingly harmless products, but the new European regulations on airport security prohibit carrying them inside an airplane. In addition to the inconveniences arising from this rule, this Thursday, Lanzarote airport has begun to suffer other consequences.

The pace at passenger controls has decreased, due to the need to thoroughly check their hand luggage, and wait for travelers to dispose of all those containers with liquids. Thus, throughout the day, long queues have formed in front of the boarding gates, with dozens of people finishing the contents of their bottles.

The other side of this security measure is cleanliness. Apparently, the accumulation of plastic bottles around the police controls has caught the airport's cleaning services by surprise, who will have to get rid of all these containers, before the terminal starts to look like a plastic recycling container.
