The entrance to the Argana Baja neighborhood now has a monolith indicating the name of the neighborhood, after the final verdict of the contest organized by the Arrecife City Council to choose a sculpture was known.

After being duly summoned, nine artists from Arrecife exhibited their work from February 15 to 22 in the Municipal Archive, where all the residents of the municipality could decide on the monolith at the entrance to their neighborhood. The winner by popular vote was Rigoberto Camacho Pérez, a student at the Pancho Lasso Art School, who created a sculpture mixing the traditional architecture of Arrecife with new trends. A way to compensate for the different construction styles that exist in Arrecife.

The sculpture was inaugurated this Monday by the Councilor for Neighborhoods, Parks and Gardens, Antonio Machín; as well as the Councilor for Human Resources Luisa Blanco.

The sculpture is more than two meters high and has a width of 1.80 meters. All the work has been done with concrete, steel, wood and volcanic stone.
