Last weekend Tahíche hosted a program full of activities on the occasion of the festivities of Santiago Apóstol and Santa Ana.

On Saturday, July 16, the festivities began with the traditional barbecue of chops and a huge pot in which a large chickpea stew was prepared.

The Tahiche sports center was also the scene of the festive day. A large Aerobics and "Spinning" marathon was organized in it, a new sports modality consisting of pedaling at full speed on a bicycle.

The instructors José, Elena, Juan Jaime, Juanma, Josele, Luli and Suso made more than 150 participants who attended the event pedal. They were there from 7:00 p.m. until almost midnight. The Bicycles were provided for the event by Josele, from La Ciudad Deportiva, by the Arrecife City Council, by the Amazonas Gymnasium and by the Arrecife Sport Gymnasium.

While people were pedaling on the soccer field, in the pavilion, simultaneously, Aerobics was practiced. Laura, monitor of Amazonas and the Titerroy Sports Center, performed aerobics and "body compact". Ute, from La Santa Sport participated performing Latin and hip-hop, and Laura González, the Aerobics instructor from Tahíche, taught a salsa aerobics and aero reggaeton class, a version of the popular reggaeton.

Once the activity organized by the Tahíche festival committee and the Teguise City Council was finished, the Beatriz Hotels presented 30 thalassotherapy sessions to the instructors and participants who won the final raffle.

Sunday, the day of the little ones

Sunday, July 17 was the day of the little ones. Several games were played with them and they were able to do one of the things that children like the most: listen to the stories told by a storyteller.

They were given a snack and as a final culmination, the already traditional children's play back took place in the Tahíche socio-cultural center.

Numerous children from the town performed, with synchronized choreographies, the musical artists of the moment. Meanwhile, on one side of the venue, photographs of the different groups were being exhibited. The smallest ones: Famara, Evelyn, Laura, Keyla, Yanira, Arianna, Natalia, Carmen, Andrea Viatoly, Andrea Armas and Andrea Hernández. They were followed by the group of dancers, with Yaritxa, Enma, Saray, Tesi, Acoraida, Aldara, Idaira and Natalia. The Trio was made up of Alicia, Yudith and Rebeca. Finally, the oldest, Sergio, Moisés, Damelza, Marta, María, Yéssica, Sara and Tanasare.

The salsa dance group led by Miguel Medina and Noelia Duque was invited to the Gala, who performed several numbers of salsa, tango, pasodoble and sevillanas, among others.

The Tahíche funky group closed the show. At one point in the concert, due to the effect of the lights, the canes with which they performed became dolls that also danced funky and even applauded.

In the end, everyone was moving to the rhythm of Las Supremas, while they said goodbye to the play-back until next year. Play-back that, one more year, was directed by Olivia Pérez and Laura González.

In addition, Sunday was also the day of the lottery, which increases its expectation every year. This time, the room in which the game was held was too small for the number of people who wanted to participate.

Popular games

On Monday, July 18, numerous children between the ages of 7 and 15 met at the sports court of the Tahíche socio-cultural center to enjoy an afternoon of games.

The monitors Ernesto, Soraya and Laura brought the usual games to the participants: the handkerchief, the burned or the heads and tails. They also took the opportunity to play other games in which laughter was guaranteed: they proposed games such as «the kiss» to the older ones. A group of them were separated, so they would not see what their classmates were doing and, one by one, the game was played. They had to give a girl a kiss on the hand, another on the cheek and the last on the mouth as quickly as possible. When they were going to kiss her on the mouth, the girl in question released the mouthful of water she had previously drunk. Children and parents could not stop laughing.

Children's aero-reggaeton workshop

On Tuesday, July 19, the Aerobics teacher from Tahíche, Laura González, brought aero reggaeton closer to the youngest. Numerous girls, between the ages of 6 and 15, attended the Tahíche sports hall. They were previously explained what aero-reggaeton was and then, together, they created a great choreography, which they enjoyed dancing like professionals.
