Once again, the residents of the town of Tahíche massively participated in the pilgrimage in honor of Santiago Apóstol.
The route began at 6:00 p.m., departing from the town's church, and then traversing several streets of the town. A true popular demonstration, in which children, youth, and adults alike dressed in traditional clothing.
In addition, the folk groups La Oliva (Fuerteventura), Guagime (Tahíche), Guágaro (Tías) and the parrandas Los Gorfines (Arrecife) and the town of Los Valles, accompanied the Saint on his journey, to which groups of spontaneous people joined.
The carts decorated with typical motifs and pulled by donkeys also surprised those present, as well as a pair of oxen that arrived from the town of Tiscamanita (Fuerteventura), which caught the attention of young and old.
Throughout the tour, the pilgrims did not stop singing and dancing, while tasting the typical Canarian products. All washed down with good Lanzarote wine.
Once the tour was over, the offering to Santiago Apóstol was carried out next to the church, whose products were all delivered to Cáritas, for distribution among the most needy.
After the offering, the pilgrims went to the Tahíche Neighborhood Association to enjoy the pilgrim's dance and to elect the oldest pilgrim woman and pilgrim man, whose titles went to Marta Valdivia Martín and Juan Caraballo Valdivia. The dance lasted until well into the early morning, on a day full of Canarian traditions.
