Storm Filomena left more than a hundred incidents in Lanzarote this Thursday

Firefighters from the Consortium and the Red Cross carried out more than 50 actions in different parts of the island and Emerlan another 13

Storm Filomena left more than a hundred incidents on the island this Thursday, in which the emergency services had to act. 

The firefighters of the Security and Emergency Consortium carried out 54 actions due to floods, in addition to another seven services for other incidents. Most were recorded in Arrecife, although firefighters also had to intervene in other parts of the island such as Playa Honda, Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca.

In the capital, the Consortium's troops acted on Doctor Rafael González, Escotilla, San Sebastián, Canalejas, Manolo Millares, César Manrique, Calderón de la Barca, Doctor Fleming, Juan de Quesada, El Palomar, El Antonio, Blasco Ibáñez, Tenderete, Carlos V, Portugal, Juan Negrín, Plaza de la Constitución, Gómez Ulla, Trillo, Alfonso XIII, Mastelero, Trillo, El Sara and Monterrey streets.

The firefighters also intervened in Calle Real and on the Maneje bridge, as well as in Simón Bolívar Park. They also had to act in the Arrecife Bingo, in a bar on Alcalde Ginés de la Hoz street, in the Islamar apartments, in a driving school on Dr Fleming street, in the bar area of ​​Charco de San Ginés and in the 21st Century Building, where there were people who were trapped in the elevator. 

In addition to floods, in Arrecife they also carried out an action due to a cable that was sparking in Argana Baja, another for a cable that was smoking in Jesús Soto Morales street in Arrecife, a third for a cable that was hanging in La Inés street and another for a post that was sparking in the Arrecife Civic Center.

The firefighters also had to go to the rescue of people who were trapped in a vehicle in Manolo Millares street and intervened in León y Castillo street due to a fall of debris.  

In Playa Honda they had to intervene in Nasa and Mesana streets, while in Puerto del Carmen they had to go to Avenida de las Playas and in Costa Teguise to Pueblo Marinero, where there was a lady unable to leave. In Playa Blanca they acted on Irlanda, La Lapa, La Concha and Hoyo de Fuera streets, as well as in the Villa Burgado Urbanization and in a supermarket. They also intervened in the Arrecife Ring Road and on the LZ-1, near the Tahíche roundabout. 

Likewise, the Consortium troops also had to remove stones that were on the road in the Lanzarote a Caballo area, in Playa Queada. 


Actions of Emerlan and Red Cross 

For its part, Emerlan carried out a total of 13 interventions, five in Arrecife in collaboration with Civil Protection and eight in Teguise. Likewise, he had to go to the rescue of a hiker who disappeared on the Famara to Guinate path, who was finally located by the Local Police and Civil Protection of Haría near the Guinate viewpoint.

Red Cross also carried out several actions on the island. Specifically, it intervened on eight occasions in Arrecife to place protection structures and another to help drain water in a building and in the surrounding area. Likewise, it carried out 47 non-structural measures in the island area and had an activation of the advanced life support ambulance in Tías and another of the telecare service in Los Valles.
