The Sonidos Líquidos 2022 festival is approaching, which means the return of one of the most important musical events on the island. In this year's edition there are some novelties compared to previous ones, such as the closure of the road leading to the venue.
There will be a traffic restriction on the La Geria road, which will be closed to private vehicle traffic from 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, until 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. Specifically, it will be from the LZ-30 junction with LZ-501 (La Asomada, Conil, Tías) to the LZ-30 junction with Uga (Calle El Morro).
To access the Bodega La Geria environment, the organization "strongly" recommends the use of buses enabled for public transportation. Festival attendees can purchase their bus ticket through the website www.sonidosliquidos.com. The event can also be accessed through the local taxi service.
Continuing with the measures to protect the Protected Landscape of La Geria, the organization announces that parking and overnight stays in the area will be restricted, whether on the roadsides or on dirt, agricultural and similar roads. "This will prevent the degradation of the space and possible accidents due to the transit of people on the road, due to the poor lighting of the road," adds the organization.
For those who wish to travel with their private vehicle, a free parking will be enabled at the entrance of the town of Yaiza (in front of the Hotel-Restaurant Finca Las Salinas), which will be duly signposted. From there, free shuttle buses will leave every 20 minutes, from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
The organization of Sonidos Líquidos points out that it "perfectly knows the fragility of the La Geria environment". "It is a Biodiversity area with special protection for birds. In turn, the area belongs to the Lanzarote and Chinijo Archipelago Geopark; it is a Biosphere Reserve and a Protected Natural Space," they add from Sonidos Líquidos.
For all these reasons, the organization assures that "they have always been aware of the need to place special emphasis on taking measures to protect and preserve this very special area."
During the event, Mr. "Ciguarro", an iconic character of the festival, will be present again, raising public awareness about cigarette butt waste, offering portable ashtrays. Likewise, the straws will be made of bamboo and the cups, made with rice husk, will be reusable and biodegradable. All this, thanks to the collaboration of Geoparque Lanzarote and Archipiélago Chinijo.
In addition, the organization points out that there will be a "Be Eco" stand at the festival, where information related to the environment will be offered, a violet point will be established by the Mararía Association, and a merchandising stand will also be opened, made by the El Cribo Association.
Sonidos Líquidos is organized by Arenao C.& M. together with the Lanzarote Wine Regulatory Council, with the sponsorship of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Turismo de Islas Canarias, Ayuntamiento de Yaiza and Ayuntamiento de Arrecife. In addition, Bodega La Geria, Grupo TSC, Grupo Chacón, Relaxia Resorts, Suntelco and Lumar Mantenimiento collaborate.
