The screening carried out at the IES San Bartolomé has concluded without locating any cases of Covid-19. In total, according to the Ministry of Health, 716 samples have been analyzed and all have tested negative.
The study was carried out after detecting the presence of the virus in the wastewater of this educational center, but finally no cases have been found.
"This screening seeks to prevent a possible extension of Covid-19 and act quickly," said the Ministry this weekend, which announced the completion of mass testing from this Tuesday.
However, it also recalled that in the previous screening carried out for the same reason in two neighborhoods of Arrecife, only two positives confirmed by PCR were detected.
In this regard, the manager of Sanitary Services of Lanzarote, José Luis Aparicio, has explained that a person who has been positive and has already overcome the disease may continue to have traces of the virus in the feces for days. "If you take the sample from there, it comes out positive, even if you no longer have anyone contagious or infectious," he said, to explain why these cases may be occurring.
