Somos Lanzarote and Podemos Arrecife have jointly organized a round table for this Wednesday afternoon to address the reality of gender violence on the island. The event, which will take place from 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal Archive of Arrecife, will feature the participation of Jorge Peñas Lozano, a lawyer specialized in assisting victims of gender violence, as well as representatives from the Center for Equality and Attention to Women (CIAM) and the feminist groups Mararía and Tiemar.
With this round table, which will be set up as a participatory space moderated by journalist Soraya Morales, Somos Lanzarote and Podemos Arrecife intend to address in depth, through debate with expert voices, the reality of gender violence in Lanzarote, as well as to know qualitatively and quantitatively the support services for women victims of gender violence and the action protocols that operate on the island.
This initiative, inform the organizing parties, adds to others already put on the table in the City Council of Arrecife with the intention of improving the situation from the action from civil society and institutions in the fight against this scourge that does not cease and that in the states has claimed the lives of more than 900 women in the last 15 years.
