Rigoberto Camacho Pérez will present this Monday, at 7:00 p.m., in the Plaza de La Constitución, in Teguise, his sculpture dedicated to the Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise to all the residents of the municipality and Lanzarote. This work represents the cultural group with the most tradition in the old capital of the island.
Rigoberto Camacho was chosen to create this sculpture, after the first call to carry out this work was deserted. The Teguise City Council made a second call and requested that the presentation of the work be accompanied by a sketch.
The chosen one to carry out this work was Camacho, who, with hardly any time to organize his workshop, got down to work. The first step was to choose the model to carry out the sculpture. Rigoberto Camacho opted for his brother José Javier, a member of the Racho de Pascuas de Teguise for more than 20 years.
The next step was to shape the mold made of iron as a base to be modeled with resistant materials based on polyester resin and iron fiber. The sculpture reaches an approximate weight of about 70 kilos and a height of 1.40 meters. The work symbolizes a dancer from the Rancho de Pascuas, at the moment he is performing the shepherd's jump before the Child Jesus on the occasion of the foot kiss.
The sculpture will be placed very close to the church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, in the pedestrian area of the Plaza de La Constitución, also known as the Plaza de Los Leones. In this way, it will become part of the historical heritage of the Señorial Villa de Teguise.
