The poor sea conditions, which continue despite the yellow warning for coastal phenomena having been deactivated, have forced yellow and red flags to be raised on the island's beaches. In the case of El Reducto and Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen, they are also affected by the presence of jellyfish, and bathing has been prohibited.

According to the Security and Emergency Consortium, some 50 Portuguese man o' war jellyfish have been removed this Monday morning in El Reducto. "They are moving with the currents and probably for a couple of days we will have jellyfish on the beaches", the manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, told La Voz.

The jellyfish were already detected this Sunday on Las Cucharas Beach, where the yellow flag is flying today, although no longer because of jellyfish, but because of the poor sea conditions, which also affect the rest of the island's beaches. "We hope that the situation will improve throughout the day", Espinosa pointed out.

Rest of beaches

In the beaches of Teguise, yellow flags have also been raised in El Jablillo, Bastián and Los Charcos, while the red flag is flying in Famara and on the beaches of La Graciosa. In the four beaches of Puerto del Carmen (Los Pocillos, Matagorda, Playa Chica and Playa Grande) the red flag has also been raised, in the case of Playa Chica due to jellyfish. In Yaiza, yellow flags have been placed in Playa Blanca and Flamingo, as well as in the north, in La Garita de Arrieta Beach.

The Security and Emergency Consortium has not provided data on the conditions on the beaches of La Cantería de Órzola, Papagayo and Guacimeta Beach in Playa Honda, as there is no surveillance service at this time of year.
