Small dishes, but gigantic in flavors, textures, shapes, colors and smells, fascinated thousands of residents and tourists who verified between Saturday and Sunday the wisdom of the exhibitors of the Playa Blanca Cheese Fair. In its fourth edition, the organization invited Vicenta Bravo and Brígida Camacho, two references of southern cuisine who shared some of the secrets that catapulted the Casa Emiliano de Femés and Casa Brígida de Playa Blanca restaurants to success.

The mayor of Yaiza, Gladys Acuña, expressed her satisfaction for "having in the Fair and recognizing in an exceptional setting the work of two residents of the municipality, Vicenta and Brígida, who have been at the foot of the stoves for more than thirty years to support their families by offering an excellent restoration service." Vicenta and Brígida captured all the attention in the two showcooking sessions explaining the preparation of the traditional kid and other Canarian delicacies.

The gastronomic proposals of the Fair, with goat cheese as an essential ingredient, prepared by about twenty creative restaurateurs, were more than well accompanied by a wonderful variety of artisan cheeses and the tasting of local wines from the latest harvest. Cheese factories and wineries exhibited products of fantastic quality recognized by visitors to the meeting.

The Fair was also enlivened by the live music of the bands Boulevard de Playa Blanca and Tributo a Queen de Tenerife, two rocker groups that, protected by their musical class and scenic force, maintained the joy until late Saturday night applauded by the numerous public that bet in front of the platform.

Canarian music was present on Sunday with the Los Salineros de La Hoya band, directed by Benito Rodríguez, while Totem Music, a debut group in Playa Blanca, closed the Fair performing merengue, cumbia, sones and other danceable rhythms.

The mayor of Yaiza, Gladys Acuña, the vice president of the Cabildo, Joaquín Caraballo, the president of the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Vinos de Lanzarote, Rafael Morales, the island councilor, Francisco Fabelo, and the councilor of the primary sector of Yaiza, Marcial Viñoly, together with councilors from different areas of the Cabildo and councilors from the Yaiza government group, toured the stands of restoration professionals, cheese factories and wineries in the municipality of Yaiza and the Island, great creators of the Playa Blanca Cheese Fair.

Delights everywhere: mini baguette with goat cheese with caramelized onion, smoked salmon with cheese and coffee sauce, medallions of wreckfish with aged cheese sauce, homemade cheese and onion patties and cheese balls with raisins and apples, were some of the endless dishes that made your mouth water. In addition, the master cheesemaker and poet from Las Breñas, Benjamina Marrero, gave a demonstration of making cheese with goat's milk.

The event involves a significant logistical effort that the Cabildo and the Yaiza City Council gladly assume to promote and reward the work of the primary sector through this Fair, which is also presented as an alternative for leisure and a tourist vein under the Saborea Lanzarote brand.
