More than a thousand residents of Teguise have participated in the toy and food collection campaign that began at the beginning of last December by the Department of Social Welfare of the Teguise City Council, which is coordinated by María José Costa.

The solidarity has allowed the distribution of toys and food to more than a hundred families in the municipality, supplying the food bank for the coming weeks and solving the needs of the Caritas dining room for about a month.

"We have even been able to fulfill the letter to the Three Wise Men of many children, whose families could not satisfy it. The truth is that the entire Department is happy," says Costa, who adds that "being able to bring Christmas dinner to a house is a wonderful feeling, and thanks to the neighbors, all the families we have in Social Welfare with problems enjoy these dates in a special way."

In addition, the councilor points out that the message they launched at the beginning of the campaign "has resonated with the population", since "our particular Wise Men have not only put nougat or toys, but have included cleaning products, diapers, cans of tuna, rice, potatoes or pasta."

The workers of the Area want to emphasize that the help has been very varied. People with fewer resources "brought potatoes from the land, businessmen who are not in the best moment gave products from their business and families who are just able were able to make bags of food". To all of them, those responsible for this campaign wanted to convey their gratitude, "because they have understood how important solidarity is".
