María Pilar Donate Sanz was proclaimed winner of the first literary contest "Letters for a Party", organized by the Tías City Council. The winner sent a letter from France, with which she has won a prize of 300 euros.

The second prize of 200 euros went to Ana López Aguilar, who sent her letter from Cartagena, Murcia. The other two prizes of 100 euros were for Nicolás Saavedra and Azucena Rodríguez, both from Lanzarote.

The decision was announced this Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. in the social hall of the El Fondeadero Civic Center in Puerto del Carmen, with the presence of the mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, the Councilor for Festivities, Francisco Javier Aparicio, and the members of the jury, formed by Juana Delgado Morín, Avelina Pérez Aparicio, María Alfonso García and as secretary, Tomás Armas Sicilia.

For this first call, a total of 42 letters were received from countries such as Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, France and Spain. Of these 42, 26 were selected, since the rest did not meet the requirements of the contest rules. Among these 26 works, a meticulous selection was carried out and finally 10 letters were finalists. From those letters came the names of the winners, although there was a technical tie in third place, which was finally taken by two Lanzarote residents.

Once the decision was known, the members of the jury read the winning letters, which were applauded by the public who attended the El Fondeadero Civic Center. Immediately afterwards, the timplista José Vicente Pérez, accompanied by Roberto Gil on guitar and David Luzardo on percussion, offered a concert, with a very careful musical selection, which the public liked very much.
