Margarita Barrera celebrates her 101st birthday this August 20th. On the occasion of this important celebration, the Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Social Welfare, wanted to congratulate her in person, and Councilor Eva de Anta went to her home to do so on the eve of her birthday.
Barrera was born in 1914 in the municipality of Haría, but later moved to the capital of Lanzarote, where she resides with her family. She is the owner of the first house built in the Altavista neighborhood. On Wednesday morning, Eva de Anta went to congratulate her on behalf of the City Council. "Margarita is an example of lucidity and vitality, she is a woman who treasures in her memory the evolution of the island and our city," said the councilor.
