At 9:00 p.m. last Saturday, with the auditorium packed, a very special celebration began for the family of the Malpaís de La Corona Folk Group. The group received institutional support from the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Haría City Council, folk groups from the island, family members, and the general public.

The event began with the screening of a video that captured some of the most important highlights that have marked the group's trajectory over these 40 years. After the video and with the band already set up on stage, the first chords began to sound. Meanwhile, the members of the dance troupe descended the main staircase of the auditorium, accompanied by some colleagues who also contributed to the continuity of Malpaís in previous times.

The performance officially began, and the entire group performed the most traditional of Canarian songs and dances, such as seguidillas, folías, Santo Domingo de Lanzarote, Isa en Red, and Malagueña. In this special celebration, there was a very emotional moment, thanks to new technologies, they managed to create a duet where the voice of the deceased Ginés Machín was heard surrounded by the musical chords of the band, of which he was a member until his death in 2010. Another of the intense moments that brought the audience to their feet was the intervention of Jesús Santana, a founding member who has been inactive for several years and who, on such a special occasion, took to the stage to dance the malagueña with a double partner, and where no one has achieved the plasticity and elegance that this dance holds.

Next, the institutional interventions took place, beginning with Marciano Acuña, mayor of the Haría City Council, Pedro San Ginés, president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and closing the round of interventions, Luz María Rodríguez, president of Malpaís. Rodríguez was very grateful for the collaborations received, without which an event of these characteristics would not have been possible, highlighting the involvement of her colleagues, family members, and the general public. The representatives of the two institutions were presented with a very original sculpture made by the deputy mayor of the Haría City Council, José Pérez Dorta, which symbolizes a couple dancing a malagueña. Luz María Rodríguez was also pleasantly surprised by her groupmates, who presented her with an original floral arrangement as a thank you for the 40 years she has been serving as president with total dedication and affection, a moment that made Luz María unable to avoid tears of emotion. Later, the entire Malpaís family, amid applause and compliments, left the stage to make way for the guests of the 40th Anniversary, Los Sabandeños, the leading Canarian Popular Music Group and the most recognized Canarian group internationally.

Los Sabandeños began the first part of their concert with a varied repertoire dedicated to Canarian popular music such as Popurrí de Isas, Seguidillas, Polcas and Tanganillo, among others. They also presented some of the songs that will be on the album that is being recorded and that will be released next Christmas. Themes with arrangements by Benito Cabrera such as Corazón de Trigo with the chords of the Saranda or Folías Enamoradas. In this first part, the soloist member of Malpaís de la Corona, Nieves Nieves, intervened together with Los Sabandeños performing a Malagueña. The second part of the concert was dedicated to the great classics of Latin American music, songs such as Amapola, Frenesí, Chabuca Limeña, Malagueña Salerosa, etc. They ended with several encores at the request of the public, who stood up and asked them to continue, putting the finishing touch to the 40th Anniversary of the Agrupación Malpaís de La Corona with the pasodoble, Islas Canarias.
