The island of Lanzarote was promoted at the recent Gay Pride Day in Madrid. The campaign was supported by the Department of Tourism of the Island Council, the Tourist Board and the Foreign Promotion Society. In addition, it had the collaboration of Viajes La Lupe, located in the central Madrid neighborhood of Chueca, the nerve center of the LGBT movement in Spain.
The tourism campaign included various actions that took place from June 24 to July 4, and in the words of Luis Arráez, Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo, "they had the objective of bringing the channel, such as the agency, closer to the direct public, in addition to being present at an event that brings together more than two million people each year."
The CEO of the Foreign Promotion Society, Héctor Fernández, explained that the promotion campaign not only focused on the day of the traditional parade, in which the island was able to show itself through a float and a mobile platform with the slogan "Sun, Beaches and Freedom", but also a strong promotion was carried out both inside and outside the collaborating travel agency, Viajes La Lupe. Similarly, fans, t-shirts and other merchandising were also distributed with the slogan that presented the island in this edition of Gay Pride in Madrid.
The Minister of Tourism was satisfied with the work done in an event that brings together thousands of people nationwide, and wanted to thank the entire gay community of Lanzarote "for their collaboration, participation and strong promotion of the island."
Now it is the island's turn, since on July 16 and 17 the first edition of Gay Pride will be held in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen, which is also sponsored by the Department of Tourism of the Island Council.
