The town of La Asomada celebrated the big day of its festivities this Tuesday with the procession in honor of its patron saint, San José Obrero. An "intense" weekend


Over the weekend, La Asomada celebrated the XII Montaña de Gaida Folklore Encounter in a cozy tenderete atmosphere, which this time featured performances by two invited folk groups: the Rubicón de Yaiza Folk Group and Atacayte, who traveled from the island of Gran Canaria.

After the meeting, the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, presented each group with a detail in recognition of the trajectory of the groups that participated in this festival "for maintaining the traditions and customs of folklore in the Canary Islands."

Also, on Saturday night a tribute was paid to Mrs. María Gregoria Camacho Montero, the grandmother of the town of La Asomada, the oldest neighbor among the residents of this payment. The event was attended by the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, along with several members of his government group and the members of the Festival Committee. The night continued in the halls of the Socio-Cultural Center with the musical performance of the Parranda Raíces.

Within the program for the La Asomada festivities, on Sunday night the II La Asomada Song Festival 2018 took place with the performance of 15 interpreters and emerging values ​​of the song in Lanzarote.
