The founder of the Titerroy Neighborhood Association, José Domingo Robayna del Castillo, with the reading of the proclamation, kicked off the Titerroy patron saint festivities in honor of San José Obrero, which will take place until next Sunday, May 2. The mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, and the councilor of Barrios, Lorenzo Lemaur, as well as other councilors from the government group and the opposition, met last Monday in this neighborhood of Titerroy.

After the reading of the proclamation, the brilliant performance of the Titerroy Folklore Workshop took place. Before, the neighbors were able to enjoy a parade by the murga "Los Titirroys" and, the little ones, the inflatables located in the Plaza Pío XII.

The councilors asked the neighbors to live these parties "with the same illusion and enthusiasm as in the past". According to the councilor of Barrios, Lorenzo Lemaur, the festival program is designed "with the illusion of favoring the meeting, fun, animation, the

entertainment and coexistence not only among the residents of Titerroy, but also from all corners of Arrecife".

Festival program

Within the program prepared by the Neighborhood Association and the Department of Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, this past Tuesday a play back was held on the stage of the San José Obrero festivities, where a play was also performed.

On Thursday, April 29, the Folk Festival will take place, which will bring together on stage the Los Labradores de Lanzarote Folk Group, the Los Campesinos Folk Group, the Los Salineros de La Hoya Parranda and the Los Encontrados Parranda. On Friday, the Malpaís show will move to these parties with Voalá.

The 24-hour handball tournament and the recognition of the San José youth team, which in 1985 was proclaimed champion of Spain; the IV Festival of Song Interpreters of Titerroy with the performances of Juanjo López and the Lanzarote Baila School, the Drag Queen Gala and the celebration of the Big Day of the festivities will also be part of this extensive program of the Titerroy 2010 Festivities.
