One of Iberia Express's new A321neo aircraft, which it highlights as "the most sustainable and modern" model in its fleet, already bears the name Lanzarote. The aircraft was "baptized" this Thursday at the island's airport, in an event attended by the Lanzarote Cabildo, through Turismo Lanzarote.
As explained by the Island Corporation, "this is an action contemplated within a co-marketing agreement to promote the island as a sustainable tourist destination at a national and international level, and becomes an initiative to further strengthen the relationship between the airline and local institutions which, for more than 9 years, has been one of full collaboration."
"Lanzarote and Iberia Express share the commitment to continue growing and further strengthen our ties, to promote recovery with a focus on sustainability," commented Carlos Gómez, CEO of Iberia Express. "We will continue working together, as we have been doing since day one, to recover and consolidate Lanzarote's connectivity and, with confidence, support the arrival of tourism."
The president of the Lanzarote Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, thanked the company "not only for naming this modern and innovative aircraft 'Lanzarote', but also for giving our Island's name to the most sustainable model in its entire fleet, with Iberia Express showing great sensitivity and fully aligning itself with the essence of sustainability and respect for the environment that characterizes our island model, a legacy of the universal Lanzarote native César Manrique."
For his part, the Island Councilor for Tourism Promotion, Ángel Vázquez, highlighted "the close and excellent collaborative relations that have existed for years between Turismo Lanzarote and Iberia Express, and the Company's willingness to improve connectivity with the national market."
