A total of 442 migrants, who crossed the Atlantic in a small boat bound for Lanzarote, have been rescued in the last 24 hours. Until then, between June 27 and August 7, no precarious boat had arrived in Lanzarote. However, between Tuesday and Wednesday nine different inflatable boats have arrived on the island.

Thus, on the morning of last Tuesday the first two boats arrived. After that, during the afternoon and late at night the rest of the rescues took place. This has been reported by the Emergency Coordination Center (CECOES) to La Voz.

As added by the Efe Agency, among the occupants there are almost fifty minors and, among them, a baby.

Thus, the data from the Ministry of the Interior reveal that the migratory route to the Canary Islands suffered a decrease in arrivals in the first seven months of the year compared to the same period of 2022. Thus, 8,508 people have reached the Canary Islands coasts, 11.3% less.

These arrivals to Lanzarote occur after a month in which the cayucos that depart from Senegal have taken center stage on the route.
