Helicopters, boats, ambulances and even divers. A wide deployment of human and material resources could be seen last weekend in the waters of Puerto del Carmen, during the maritime rescue simulation coordinated by Emerlan. The exercise, organized by the Tías City Council on the occasion of the festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen that were celebrated this weekend, "was a complete success," they say from the Consistory. For this, maritime, land and air resources were used, with the participation of different emergency bodies, both based in Lanzarote, as well as Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.
"The objective of this simulation was to show the public attending the Varadero de La Tiñosa how the emergency means and resources work in the event of a maritime accident and how the coordinated and effective work of the numerous intervening bodies leads to a quick and positive action," they add from the City Council.
Specifically, personnel from Civil Protection of Tías and Arrecife, the Civil Guard, with a patrol boat, helicopter and rural units, the Local Police of Tías, members of the GES (Emergency and Rescue Group) of the Government of the Canary Islands, Maritime Rescue with the Salvamar boat, the Air Force with the SAR helicopter, Emerlan with boats, jet ski and ambulances and Hospiten Lanzarote participated in the simulation.
