Gregorio Barreto Viñoly passed away this Sunday at the age of 85. Viñoly was born in Máguez in 1935. Since 1999 he has written in the Haría Municipality Newsletter, in the column, the Mirador de Guatifay.

He did an extraordinary research work in publishing the “Encyclopedia of Canarian Popular Language”, with three different books: “Words”, “Expressions” and “Sayings”.

He is co-author of “Crónicas de Canarias” since its inception in 2005.

He has also written several prologues and documentary backgrounds of the History of Haría.

He received several awards such as: “Haría Award 1996” and “Official Chronicler of Haría”.

The funeral chapel is installed in the Haría Wake. The funeral mass will take place in the Santa Bárbara Church in Máguez on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
