At the age of 82 and after a long and aggressive Alzheimer's disease, Félix Cruz Sepúlveda has passed away, a neighbor committed to the social, sports and cultural movements of the municipality, a collaborator in many events, a good and well-understood gardener and quite generous.
Félix, in his capacity as a farmer, was a lover of plants and the beautification of spaces with plants, rofe and stone. He was one of the first entrepreneurs in Lanzarote to dedicate himself to the sale of ornamental plants since the late seventies.
He opened one of the first plant nurseries in Tías, a company called 'Viveros Los Lirios' and took that name because of its location. Later, when the Lz2 road was expanded, he moved to Mácher, in El Mesón, where he expanded the establishment and continued with the same commercial name.
In the eighties, with the tourist development, his nursery was one of the few establishments of these characteristics on the island and participated in the construction of gardens and tree decoration of many hotels and garden areas of extra-hotel establishments in Tías and Costa Teguise.
He also incorporated other complementary products for the garden, such as clay pots and heavy materials made of terrazzo terracotta, barbecues or garden tables from Totana in Murcia.

He created a space for the reproduction and rehabilitation of plants and trees and imported many live plants from the nurseries of Valle Guerra, Tenerife, where he had multiple contacts with the association of Nurserymen of the Canary Islands and attended specialized and innovation fairs such as Iberflora, in Valencia. He lived and felt the plants, and talked to them. He was annoyed to see an abandoned garden.
Félix Cruz was married to Josefa Borges, co-owner of Bazar Aldaña, the first clothing and apparel store opened in Tías, a business that has disappeared and is best known as "Casa Pepita". Lately he remained away from all activity and endured this terrible disease with special care in his own home.
The funeral chapel will be installed in the Tías wake on July 28 at 3:00 p.m. The funeral mass will take place in the church of San Antonio, in Tías, on July 29 at 12:00 p.m.
