Education expects to tender this month the works of the school of Tías, which will start another year without the new classrooms

The Tías City Council has sent the architectural project and the construction license so that the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands can tender the construction of two infant classrooms and a playground in the Alcalde Rafael Cedrés school. These classrooms were demolished in September 2013, days before the start of the school year.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Manuela Armas, explained to La Voz that it was necessary to wait for the municipal license to be able to start this project. Apparently, the City Council was pending Aena, since this school is in an area of air easement, so the pronouncement of this entity was needed before granting the permit.

With the license and the architectural project sent to the Government, Armas has assured that the tender for the work will take place "this week or next week" to be able to start them at the end of August or the beginning of September. According to the Deputy Minister, the project will be ready at the end of the first quarter so that the children, who are currently located in prefabricated classrooms, can move to the new ones around the Christmas dates.

Last spring, the City Council held a meeting with "senior executives" of the Ministry of Education, including Manuela Armas, to analyze the new demands of the educational centers throughout the Tías term, including those of the Alcalde Rafael Cedrés infant and primary school. According to the City Council, in this center it was necessary "from previous academic years" to have new classrooms for children. In that meeting, it was agreed that the City Council would contribute the architectural project and the building permit that it sent to the Canarian Executive in July.

Precisely, this same Tuesday the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, has had a follow-up meeting on this project with the Councilor for Urban Planning, Saray Rodríguez, and the Councilor for Human Resources, Seniors and Education of the Tías City Council, Aroa Pérez.
