The members of the Rotary Club have celebrated the award ceremony of the Conejero of the Year award, which in this edition, has been awarded to Domingo Abreut Morales. This native of Lanzarote was born in the town of Tinajo and has dedicated his entire life to teaching, although he is also known for his cabinetmaking works. The president of this Club, Antonio Hernández Abreu, was in charge of presenting him with this distinction, in the form of a sculpture by Francisco Curbelo.

Domingo Abreut Morales is integrated among those already awarded, in other editions, by the Rotary Club of Lanzarote, among whom are César Manrique, the Sociedad Democracia, Alfredo Matallana, Juan Rosa Perdomo, Nicolás de País, Jesús Soto or Manuel Díaz Rijo, the first 'Conejero of the Year' awarded and architect of the first desalination plant on the island.

For Juan Manuel Reverón, professor at the University of La Laguna, Abreut is an untiring worker who belongs to those romantic artists who have not wanted to sell their work. "The Lanzarote artist lives with his creatures in the strictest sense of the word. Jealous to the extreme of not parting with his sculptures and carvings, his house is his studio and place of exhibition for the most intimate visits," Reverón wrote about Abreut in a work about this Lanzarote artist.
